A IS FOR ANKARA..MY POINT OF VIEW.

A sight to behold.Yesterday I was at 1st Impression Designs at The Mall,Westlands getting my ankara on.I just wanted to leave the place with all these fabrics.. too bad I couldn’t :-(
Image
It’s called Ankara and Kente in west Africa, kitenge in East Africa. These are beautiful  native fabrics that have been used since like forever,to make clothing .They’re also used to make accessories and shoes.Ankara just recently gained popularity especially among us young people. Let’s face it..as recently as 2 years ago most of us young folks DID NOT even want to imagine ourselves wearing it.Well..i didn’t.These days, these fabrics are tailored stylishly. In the past they were associated with the older generation. These days I will rock ankara/kente/kitenge fabric gladly. It’s here to stay now and forever. In case you ever buy the fabric, here are some few ideas:

NEW AFRICAN FASHION SHOW IN GHANA

As we approach the Red Ribbon Fashion Gala and Swahili Fashion Week 2012, let's see what other regions have to offer...And these are different pieces from various designers at Ghana Fashion Week 2012. One piece for all categories,i.e Chic, elegant, for the gentleman and that wedding dress.
Designed by Orange Culture...this is one of their piece.Kitenge hotpants with a different print of corset and an over coat....something for that chic urban look. I love the head scarf detail and red lipstick, beautiful!
Mimi Lee London had different kind of a collection. They all looked rather ready-made and am just not "feeling" it :(
Orange Culture stunned me with the male design of suits...It is a single button made of a rather checkered material that reminds me of the Chanel Paris 2012 show...lol

The wedding dress collection by Rebekah Opuni had quite some pieces to look at..Not the conventional wedding dresses we have seen here and there...

Looking forward to the fashion events coming up...our cameraz are ready ;))
